Twelve Mile Trail to Bronte Creek
Section Last ridden: August 31, 2024
The Twelve Mile Trail is a multi-use trail for hiking and biking (Click here for the Rules of the trail) in the city of Burlington, Ontario, Canada.
It might be a short trail, but by parking your vehicle near the Twelve Mile Trail, you can easily access the Bronte Creek Provincial Park Day-Use Area (free if you walk or bike in), with its network of trails which will take most of your time (but there are plenty of washrooms).

- Other facilities: Convenience Store and a bicycle rack (as of August 2024) next to RAPIZZA. Bring a good bike lock and/or sit in the restaurant where you can see your bikes on the rack.
Suggested day trip:
- Park at Orchard Community Park. The trail (called "Bronte Creek Trail" on Google Maps at this point) is behind the splash pad.
- On the trail, head West (as if you were going towards RAPIZZA and Hwy 5 (Dundas St)).
- You will reach Twelve Mile Trail (the street), a quiet city street. Keep going straight to follow the street to its end where you will reach Twelve Mile Trail (the trail).
- The trail is a valley (soft surface downhill to a lookout over Bronte Creek then uphill), and you will eventually reach a transition to fine aggregate and eventually reach the end of the trail at Hwy 5 (Dundas St.) at a condo building with businesses in the front. There you will find the pizza/dessert place and convenience store. The pizza/dessert place is open 7 days a week from noon to midnight.
- Head back on the trail in the opposite direction, past the point you started at (Orchard Park, and the parking lot if you need something from your car) and you will reach the paved area of Bronte Creek trail.
- Continue East. At the East end of the Bronte Creek Trail you can continue on the sidewalk of Old Burloak Dr, and a litle bit on Burloak Dr, and eventually reach the Bronte Creek Provincial park Day-Use Area.
- The Day-Use area of the park is free to enter if you are not in a car. There will be a billboard with a map if you are wondering where the washrooms are (for example).
- You may end up spending the majority of your time at the park. Once done visiting the park, head back to the sidewalk on Burloak Drive, reach Old Burloak Drive and the entrance to the Bronte Creek Trail. Make your way back to Orchard Community Park.
- If you have extra time, you can cross Sutton Drive to reach the Orchard Woodlot Central. There is a bridge, a pond (there are sometimes ducks) and a little bit of woodland trail.
