The Gypsum Mine Tract is a 7km (in one direction) multi-use trail for hiking and biking near a recently-developed (some still under construction) neighborhood near Caledonia, Ontario, Canada.

Trail information:
- Parking: No parking near the trailhead. Park in the residential area nearby (ex: MacLachlan Ave) and bike to the trailhead.
- Terrain: Fine aggregate. Best ridden on a sunny day, and 1-2 days after a rainy day.
- Food near the trail: None within short cycling distance of the trail. Plenty of fast food establishments and other restaurants in nearby Caledonia.
- Washrooms: None. There is a Tim Horton's in nearby Caledonia.
Suggested day trip:
- Please note that this is a recent neighborhood still getting developed. Some of the information below is subject to change.
- Park in the residential area nearby (ex: MacLachlan Ave) and bike through the roundabout to Lilac Drive and to the trailhead (see this MAP). This is because the road to the Caledonia Soccer Complex (where parking could be plentiful) has been gated closed since the COVID pandemic. It was still closed as of June 2024. No idea when it will reopen.
- This will start you at the West end of the trail. Go East on the trail until the end.
- Turn around, making your way West until you reach your car.
- If you still feel like exploring, you can continue West on the concrete parkway between MacLaclan Ave and Thompson Rd. At the end of the parkway, it goes down rather steeply and into some (unexplored by me) trail that seems to be a remnant of a railway.
- If you look on your favorite map provider, you will see the Avalon Trail (unexplored trail - multi-use?) and looking further out and a bit north you will spot the Chippewa Trail close by. This is a rail trail that is much longer than the Gypsum Mine Tract.

DISCLAIMER: I did not make this video. This is a video I found on YouTube that was the closest representation of the experience (and weather conditions) I had when I cycled this trail.
