Shimano RevoShift Disassembly

Back when I took the pictures below, there was only a non-English video on YouTube and the video did not show all I wanted to see.

Please note that this is only if you wish to see what is inside a cheap Shimano RevoShift shifter. It is NOT worth anyone's time servicing anything broken inside this. It is all plastic inside except for a spring and the odd metal part. I fixed it once (the scrolling numbers were off by one; for example, in the first picture you will see no numbers in the little (sun-faded/cracked) window when it should show the number 1) and my nephew broke it again within 30 minutes of normal cycling.

Besides, please do yourself a favor and get rapidfire/trigger shifters instead of grip shifters. If for some odd reason you MUST stay with a grip shifter, then get SRAM's MRX line of shifters as they have less moving parts. The SRAM MRX Comp is a grip twist shifter that is compatible with Shimano rear derailleurs... but only the ones labelled MRX; anything else from SRAM is not compatible with Shimano rear derailleurs.

I ended up donating this part to a charitable organization that accepts parts and bikes in ANY condition. However, I clearly marked on the package that it should only be used for parts and the numbering system broke twice.

Here are the pictures (Click on each picture for a full-size version):

WARNING: If you ARE attempting to disassemble one of these and using my nail shim trick, you do so at your own risk and PLEASE WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES, especially at the part with nails/shims below!! You do not want a nail flying towards your eyes.
